Food and merriment to follow!
Thank you all for taking part in this adventure with us! Below you will find more details about the weekend.
Our adventure begins on September 18th in the UP of Michigan.
All guests are welcome to arrive as early as Thursday the 18th or as late as Saturday the 20th. The days leading up to the ceremony (Saturday) will be spent relaxing and indulging in the wonder of our natural surroundings.
The cabin sits on 220 acres of land so there is plenty of room for activities. Because of this, we are inviting our guests to choose whether they would like to stay within the cabin, in a tent somewhere on the property, or somewhere in the surrounding area. Those opting to camp will be welcome to sleep indoors should the weather be rude, but please plan to supply your own bedding should that situation occur.
We kindly ask guests bringing small children to consider tent camping on the property or to seek an alternative lodging option nearby. You can find recommendations for lodgings in the Alternative Lodgings section below.
NOTE: The cabin's bathrooms will be available to everyone regardless of lodging choice.
Details about the cabin can be found in the Cabin section below.
The cabin is situated on an unnamed road, so directions to the cabin will not have an exact address but rather coordinates to enter into maps.
You'll find the information to enter for both Google and Apple Maps in the Directions section below; please test out the coordinates in advance to make sure they work for you.
If you have any questions or use a different mapping platform, let us know!
The ceremony and celebrations will be held outdoors in late September, so plan accordingly and come prepared! This time of year can be notoriously unpredictable. We do have an event tent in case of inclement weather and will be flexible on moving indoors if needed. The cabin and bathrooms will also be available for everyone at all times.
We are asking guests to bring the following:
Camping/outdoor chairs
Coolers (all shapes and sizes)
Outdoor/indoor games
Bug spray
Beverages: we will provide beer, wine, & champaign for the festivities on Saturday but please help us out otherwise
Snacks
Bath towels (for just in case)
We want this weekend to be a relaxing getaway that just so happens to end with a Promise in the Pines.
Days will be spent hiking, hanging out, and preparing for the festivities on Saturday, so bring comfortable clothing and shoes for those days.
For the ceremony and celebration, forest friendly attire is encouraged. Think earth tones (greens, browns, blues, etc) and cozy layers- sweaters are encouraged! We're keeping it casual but intentional; there's no need for formalwear but leave the graphic tees for a different day.
An itinerary of the weekend will be added to the website in the Itinerary section below so check back periodically to see the plans for the weekend.
It should be noted that nothing about the weekend's events are required. Whether you want to join on group hikes or spend time reading and relaxing, we want everyone to do what feels best for them.
Details on what food is planned for each meal can be found in the Meals section below.
In lieu of disposable cameras, we would like guests to use their own phones to capture moments from the weekend. You can then upload your photos to PixelParty where a digital photo album will be created for all to see and enjoy.
Our hope is to keep the weekend as low key and casual as possible. To do this, we’ve opted to forgo most vendors and DIY instead. That being said, there's a lot of moving pieces throughout the weekend.
If you have specific talents/hobbies that you believe would be helpful and would be willing to contribute your services, we would love to hear from you.
